NYMGMA - An organization supporting practice management professionals within New York State About NYMGMA

Our Mission  |  Our Goals   |  By Laws  |  Dues  |  Board of Directors   |  Affiliates   |  ACMPE

New York Medical Group Management Association (NYMGMA) is an active non profit association of more than 500 (Active, Affiliate and Sponsor members) professional medical group managers from all across New York . We are dedicated to the advancement of group practice management through educational programs and information exchange along with the enrichment of some good fun and fellowship.

The best way to keep abreast of the issues and maintain our< effectiveness as medical administrators is by joining with colleagues in identifying common problems and providing creative solutions. Having access to a professional association is critical if we are to effectively cope with the rapidly changing medical climate. Becoming a member of New York MGMA will give you access to educational and networking resources as well as provide a vehicle for coordinated participation in the statewide and national debate on health care issues.

Our goals are as follows:

  1. Become an active voice in formulating health care policy in New York State . Towards this end, NYMGMA has representatives on the state Medicare Advisory Committee and we are actively developing a closer relationship with the New York State Medical Society at the state and local levels.
  2. Promote the development and growth of regional affiliates. We recognize that regional differences -- from upstate to down state, Manhattan to Buffalo -- must be considered in a state as large and complex as ours. NYMGMA is therefore supporting and encouraging the formation and continued growth of metro/regional affiliates. Presently, nine dynamic regional affiliate groups provide a powerful support system to NYMGMA in Albany , Buffalo , New York City, Long Island , Central New York , Southern Tier, Hudson Valley , Rochester and Plattsburgh .
  3. Promote the growth and education of our members. Our programs have been planned with an eye toward the skills and knowledge our membership will require to excel in their positions. Topics planned for this year include integration, practice valuation, organizational culture, fraud and abuse and practice management..
  4. Facilitate Networking among medical group administrators in New York State . In addition to our educational conferences and bi-annual newsletter, we publish the NYMGMA membership directory. This will provide ready access to colleagues throughout the state. We are our greatest asset.
  5. Promote programs that address the unique issues facing academic practices. Approximately one third of our membership comes from academic practices. While there are many common issues, we hope to provide, breakout sessions that address some of the unique issues facing academic practices.
  6. Promote involvement in the American College of Medical Practice Executives (ACMPE). NYMGMA believes that it is through personal commitment to continuing education that practice managers will be able to lead their groups through the turbulent times ahead. The College serves as a formal nationally recognized forum to refine and enhance existing skills and learn new tools.
